Build Your Family Tree on Ancestry.com Class

Samhain is a time to honor our ancestors but many of us feel a disconnect between ourselves and them. Whether due to a disconnect with current and immediate family, or just having no idea who exactly our ancestors are, or even both. I fell into the both category and went in search of ancestors I could feel a connection to in place of having no connection what so ever to immediate family. I found a man, who instead of being a juror in the famous Salem witch trials, skipped town the night before, and now has a rock dedicated in his honor. Another man was a Duke and a poet that invented non-rhyming Iambic Pentameter but was beheaded for being a heretic. And I was able to trace one line in my family tree all the way to Queen Isabella, The "She Wolf" of France. We can't guarantee you have royalty in your ancestry but the odds are very good that you'll find someone you can relate to and connect with.

August has been mapping his family tree on Ancestry.com for decades and has even helped others find a missing parent they didn't know the name of or found someone's parent to be someone other then who they thought. He found me the Queen. Ancestry.com didn't feel very intuitive to me and if it feels that way to you, this class is for you! August will walk you through the ins and outs of searching through the records and building your family tree. By the time you go home you will be well on your way to tracing back your lineage as far as you'd like to go.

For this class we ask that you bring a laptop or tablet (a laptop is preferred). If you do not have access to either please let us know ASAP as we may have a tablet for you to borrow. If you do not already have an Ancestry.com membership, August will walk you through signing up for a free 14 day trial. You will need to bring a credit card to put on file with Ancestry.com when you sign up for the free trial. You can decide after class if you wish to cancel the trial or keep it. We are in no way affiliated with Ancestry.com and don't get any money from them for this. It is just the tool we are using for this class.

This class is $45 and group size is limited to 9 participants. Each participant needs their own ticket!
